This helps to describe the current state of a market or business vs. competition. This, in turn, leads to possible ideas or theories about what might be happening in the marketplace. Ideas then turn into prototypes or products for evaluation, such as for initial use in the home, or deploying online as a service. Because there are many possible configurations of products and services, sometimes special research must be conducted to optimize the product. Once products are launched, we want to track their success in the marketplace, assess satisfaction, and monitor sales growth and share. The process continues again once new uses are identified and new customers come on-stream. The marketing process is never-ending!
